Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Reblogged from Roving Book Club:
Hollow City - Ransom Riggs

Read by Kim A: The sequel to Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children picks up the action as the “peculiars” are fleeing their loop home in search of a new safe haven and a way to save Miss Peregrine. With very little knowledge of how to achieve either aim and a powerful enemy hot on their heels, the children’s quest seems doomed. Yet as they encounter one insurmountable obstacle after another they are always able to avert disaster at the last second. This does become predictable, but Riggs has a talent for inventing interesting escapes which kept me interested.

This book has a faster pace and more action than its predecessor and I was compelled to keep turning pages to find out what would happen next.  However it lacks the emotional depth of the first novel and the clumsy romantic storyline quite annoyed me.
